Welcome to The Cottage

This beautiful detached two-bedroom cottage is one of the oldest buildings in Charlton on Otmoor, thoughtfully renovated to combine historic charm with modern luxury.

Inside, you’ll find original elm beams, characterful low ceilings and a cosy wood-burning stove in the front room, all balanced with refined finishing touches. Soft furnishings and toiletries from The White Company, a Nespresso coffee machine, and carefully chosen details throughout bring a true boutique feel.

Outside, the cottage has its own private garden and hot tub, perfect for relaxing after a day exploring Oxfordshire. The property is located right in the heart of the village, with convenient on-street parking nearby.

Things to do & places nearby

Charlton on Otmoor is perfectly placed for enjoying some of Oxfordshire’s best food, countryside and attractions. Just a short walk from the cottage is The Nut Tree Inn, the county’s only Michelin-starred pub, offering an exceptional dining experience for both lunch and dinner. For something more relaxed, The Crown Inn is only 500 yards away and is a welcoming local spot, with a popular food van at weekends. If you enjoy walking, a scenic route across the moor will take you to The Abingdon Arms in Beckley, a wonderful destination for a drink or a leisurely lunch.
The cottage is ideally located for exploring the wider area, with Islip train station just three miles away providing direct links to Oxford and Bicester Village. Oxford city centre is easily reached and offers world-famous colleges, museums, filming locations from Morse and Harry Potter, and the chance to spend an afternoon punting along the river. Blenheim Palace is around a 15-minute drive and is well worth a visit, with its stunning grounds, historic interiors and connection to Sir Winston Churchill.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, Otmoor offers beautiful open landscapes and peaceful walks, with the nearby RSPB reserve providing excellent wildlife and birdwatching opportunities. The surrounding countryside is ideal for gentle walks and cycling, while the Cotswolds can be reached in around half an hour for classic villages, rolling hills and traditional market towns.

Shopping and entertainment are also close at hand. Bicester Village is just six miles away and makes for a fantastic day out, offering luxury shopping, cafés and frequent trains into London. Motorsport enthusiasts will enjoy the nearby Silverstone Race Circuit, approximately 20 minutes away, where you can visit the museum or attend one of the many events held throughout the year.

For a more local experience, the village is home to two farms selling fresh eggs and seasonal produce, while Boarstall Meats, a highly regarded local butcher run by a nearby farmer, is a short drive away and well worth a visit. A welcome book is provided in the cottage with recommendations for takeaway deliveries if you prefer a quiet evening in, and the nearest supermarket is around five miles away for everything else you may need during your stay.
